Web app comparison
Ryan Campbell of ParticleTree has posted a very informative comparison of four different web startups, along a few different vectors. I use the word “comparison” somewhat hesistatingly, as the article intentionally takes an apples to oranges range of companies. However, the depth of information, from lines of code to conversion rates to support requests at each of the four organizations, should give you enough data to draw your own conclusions.
Personally, I’m very impressed by the collaborators who put this together (based on a SXSW panel last year), as generally such information is held pretty close to the vest. Sharing so much about their respective successes and failures is a pretty brave thing to do in an industry that’s fairly quick moving and fairly cannibalistic, so I hope they get all the good karma back this lifetime. A highly recommended read if you’re in the startup game, or just interested in how a business makes projections.
